The historical development of the calculus C. H Edwards

The computer has a fascinating history behind it. All calculus classes use the widely accepted Leibniz notation for the infinitesimal summation symbol. I actually like Leibniz's development of Calculus much more than Newton's. The machine was envisaged in 1937, and John Atanasoff and student Clifford Berry developed it at Iowa State University between 1939 and 1942. However, when I went to school there was very little of the history, so it wasn't even an option unless I wanted to do a lot of research on my own. The victor has written the history books.
